Science Olympiad is a nationwide nonprofit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are accomplished through various means including state and national tournaments. Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic competitions that consist of a series of team events which students prepare for during the year. These events are well balanced between the various science disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics and technology. There is also a balance between events requiring knowledge of science concepts, process skills and science applications.
Treasure Valley Homeschool Science Olympiad Teams are homeschool teams organized to participate in Science Olympiad tournaments against other public and private school teams.
Science Olympiad has two main competitive levels: Division B for 6-9th graders, and Division C for 9-12th graders. We have two core teams - one in each division - which require a high level of commitment from the students and their families. Both teams won the 2017 and 2018 State tournaments, and in 2019 the high school team continued its streak and won for the third time in a row. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the 2020 season was cut short. In 2021, both teams again placed first at the State tournament.
